The Phantom Universe

What is hidden beyond the edge of the light, in the darkest areas of the sky? Which frontiers of the unknown await astronomers there, and what challenges have yet to be overcome? Session with Fernando Buitrago, of the University of Valhadolid and IA.

Conjunctions, occultations and other “stars of Bethlehem”: The Great Jupiter and Saturn Conjunction

This December, Jupiter and Saturn will be so close in the night sky, they will appear to merge in a single "super-star". To mark the event, the Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) and the Porto Planetarium -  Ciência Viva Center will host an online debate, with IA researchers, about these ephemerids and their scientific and historical importance.
