International Women and Girls in Science Day 2021

In line with the United Nations strategy to reduce gender inequality in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), it was declared, in 2015, the 11th of February as the International Women and Girls in Science Day.

The Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) joins the celebrations with an online session with IA researchers, as well as with several initiatives on social media.

IA is challenging its followers on social media to leave questions for the female researchers of the Institute. You can leave your question on the IA Facebook or Instagram accounts (iastropt) and listen to the answers during the online session, in Portuguese, “Astronomia no Feminino”.

In “Astronomia no Feminino”, Catarina Lobo, Margarida Cunha, Lara Sousa and Gabriella Gilli will answer the social media questions and test the knowledge of the participants in a fun quiz, with prizes for the ones answering more questions correctly. This session will also count with the presence of Teresa Lago, General Secretary of the International Astronomical Union.

The session will take place on the 11th of February, at 21h, in the IA YouTube channel.
