We have been to the Moon. So what?
Fifty years ago, Humanity stepped on the Moon for the first time. An incredible scientific and technological feat, its consequences go well beyond space science. From the technology at our disposal, to our perception of the planet and of Space, a lot has changed. We were no longer confined to the Earth and instead opened the door to become a multiplanetary species.
In Moon 21st Century – The future of a 50 year-old footprint eight researchers from various scientific fields, from astrophysics to microbiology and sports science, will explore, in an informal conversation, what changed since we have been to the Moon and what can we expect from the future.
With Adriano Henriques (ITQB-NOVA), Alexandre Cabral (IA, FCUL), Daniel Marinho (UBI, CIDESD), Edson Oliveira (CHLN), Pedro Machado (IA, FCUL), Pedro Matos Soares (IDL, FCUL), Rui Agostinho (IA, FCUL), Rui Moura (FCUP) and moderation of Joana Lobo Antunes (IST).
The session will be in Portuguese.
In the end, take the opportunity to observe and take a photo of the Moon with our telescopes.
This initiative results from a partnership between Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço, iNOVA Media Lab and Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém.
