IAstro Júnior is a joint initiative run by the Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) and the young people’s magazine, Visão Júnior, specially designed to 7 to 12 year olds. In each session, 3 IA researchers will share their fascination for Astronomy and Astrophysics in 3 short, simple and interactive talks. At the end of each talk, there will be a question and answer session.
Participants may also leave questions that will subsequently be answered by IA researchers. These questions and answers will be published in Visão Júnior magazine or on its website.
The IAstro Júnior debut session is dedicated to galaxies. We will talk about our galaxy, the Milky Way, and other galaxies. We will also find out what the dust is that exists in the galaxies and its importance.
José Afonso, Sonia Antón and Ciro Pappalardo, researchers at the Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço, are going to share with the audience the latest findings on this fascinating topic.
