Through teaching, research and outreach, Rui Agostinho, a researcher from Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) and a teacher at the Science Faculty of the University of Lisbon (FCUL), has significantly contributed to the promotion of Astronomy in Portugal and his enthusiasm and effort have been recognized this month by the Grande Prémio Ciência Viva Associação Mutualista Montepio 2019.

Throughout his path, Rui Agostinho encouraged many to dedicate themselves to Astrophysics, and many others to continue following the discoveries of this fascinating science.

His outreach work has been multiplied by the vast amount of initiatives and events that, on a national level, bring science, and astronomy in particular, to schools, youngsters and the general public. He is also a regular presence in the media as a commentator of astronomical phenomena and scientific discoveries.
